Bandai Visual USA has announced that it will release the first volumes of of two new series beginning in May, only two months after their Japanese release, and five months after their original broadcast airing.  They'll be offered in Japanese language with optional English subtitles.  Both 13-episode series will feature six two-episode discs at $39.99 each and one one-episode disc at $29.99. 

 

Shigofumi:  Letters from the Departed Volume 1 ($39.99) will street May 13th.  Creators include Tatsuo Sato (Stellvia, Nadesico), Ichiro Okochi (Code Geass, Planetes), and Kouhaku Kuroboshi (Kino's Journey).  The storyline concerns a mail carrier who delivers letters from the dead. 

 

Shigofumi

True Tears Volume 1 ($29.99) will street May 27th.  This one comes from veteran director Junji Nishimura (Simoun, You're Under Arrest) and features the story of adolescents (including one who has lost her ability to cry) and their tribulations in a provincial Japanese city. 

 

Bandai Visual will also release the digitally remastered Blu-ray version of the five-part Yukikaze OVA, on April 8th.  The three-disc set will carry an MSRP of $149.99.  It will include both Japanese and English language soundtracks and bonus features including a 28-minute feature Aircrafts in Yukikaze from Pilot's Eyes, a six-minute Yukikaze Experimental Movie, a 20-page full color SAF Flight Manual, and an exclusively designed box.
