Casting has begun for the feature film trilogy based on the 20th Century Boys manga, according to Variety.  Toshiaki Karasawa will play the lead in the three films, which are budgeted for $57 million.  The first film is scheduled for release August 30th.

Over 20 volumes of the manga by Naoki Urasawa have been released in Japan, accounting for over 20 million copies sold.

Viz holds the U.S. rights for the 20th Century Boys manga, but it has not scheduled a launch.  It is currently emphasizing Urasawa's Monster (see 'Viz Media Presenting 'Hunter x Hunter' and 'Monster'') in anime sales; it's published over a dozen volumes of the Monster manga.
