20th Century Fox has announced that it is moving the premiere of the live action Dragonball movie from August 15th, 2008 to April 3rd, 2009.  A number of films are slated to open on August 15th, most notably the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated feature (see "Star Wars: The Clone Wars Movie"), which would compete directly for the same youthful demographic that would be attracted to the live action Dragonball.

So far the Dragonball movie has no announced competition on its April 3rd, 2009 date, and, given the large number of blockbusters slated for this summer (see "Best in Shows, Part I) and relative paucity of titles slated for 2009 (in large part the result of the writers' strike), it's a wonder that more films don't follow the example of Dragonball and J.J. Abrams' Star Trek movie (see "Trek Movie Transported to Spring") and decamp for the greener, less competitive pastures of 2009.
