Longtime comic retailer and Pittsburgh Comicon organizer Michael George was convicted of murder on Monday in the death of his wife in 1990, according to local newspapers. The conviction followed an eleven day trial (see "Greed, Sex, and Power") in which the prosecution built a primarily circumstantial case against George, who began living with his girlfriend within two months of the slowing. George faces an automatic sentence of life in prison without parole.
George was also convicted of filing an insurance claim for comics that he said were stolen at the time of the murder.
George's attorney said he would ask the judge to set aside the jury's verdict.
