Variety is reporting that Benderspink, the Hollywood production company that has a number of comic book-based projects in development including Y: The Last Man, Area 52, Pet Robots, Power & Glory, and The Ghouly Boys, has optioned the comic book series Last Blood from Blatant Comics. The 4-issue Last Blood comic book series, which is set a post-apocalyptic Earth where a band of vampires protects the last remnants of humanity from a plague of zombies, was created by brothers Bobby and Chris Crosby and illustrated by Owen Gieni.

In 1997 the Crosby brothers founded the independent publishing company Blatant Comics, which published a series of parody comics such as Sloth Park, XXXena: Warrior Pornstar, and Dead Sonja before issuing its first straight horror comic Last Blood, which debuted on Free Comic Book Day in 2007.  Last Blood is the first Blatant Comics' title optioned by a Hollywood studio.
