Variety is reporting that Rogue Pictures has assigned the prolific screenwriter Justin Marks to adapt Devil Due Publishing's comic book Hack/Slash.  Todd Lincoln has been tapped to direct the film, which is based on the comic created by Todd Seeley and Stefano Caselli that chronicles the adventures of Cassie Hack, a young woman who travels the country dispatching psychopathic serial killers and assorted homicidal maniacs.  The assignment of a writer and a director is a sign that Rogue Pictures is serious about getting this property, which was acquired in 2006 (see "Rogue Gets Hack/Slash") and which the studio sees as a heady combination of horror and action picture elements, into production.

Meanwhile Justin Marks is quickly becoming Tinseltown's go-to-guy for comic book, cartoon and videogame properties.  In addition to Hack/Slash he is currently working on the Green Arrow-based Supermax and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe for Warner Brothers, plus Voltron and the Street Fighter movie for Fox.
