CMX made a raft of new manga announcements at New York Comic Con, mostly of shorter series of relatively recent vintage.

Classical Medley, a two-volume juvenile adventure series by Sanae Kana, will launch in October.

In November, CMX will launch Suihelibe!, by Naomi Azuma, a two volume series telling the story of an alien girl trying to capture her world’s escaped animals and safely return them home.

January 2009 will see the launch of Fire Investigator Nanase, by Ichikawa Tomoshige and Hashimoto Izo (Shamo), a seven-volume series about a student at a firefighter academy who’s a budding fire investigator.

Jihai, a three-volume sci-fi series by Toshimi Nigoshi, will launch in February.

Three series are as yet unscheduled.  Ballad of a Shinigami, by K-Ske Hasegawa and artist Asuka Izumi, is based on the light novel series just launched here by Seven Seas (also written by K-Ski Hasegawa, see “Seven Seas Licenses Japanese Properties”).  Two more volumes of the light novel series are scheduled for release this year.

Astral Project, by marginal (Old Boy’s Gallon Tsuchiya under a pen name) and Shyuji Takeya, tells the story of a chauffeur for high-class call girls who has out-of-body experiences when he listens to a CD he found in his mysteriously deceased sister’s possessions.

And Venus Capriccio, a four-volume series by Mai Nishikata, tells a piano student love story.
