Remains Critical, But Stable

Retailer David Pirkola of Apparitions Comics and Books in Grand Rapids, Michigan remains in critical but stable condition at a local hospital after being shot in a robbery last Friday.  “Thom,” an employee at the store, told ICv2 that at the request of the family, no other details on the robbery or his condition were being released. 

The Grand Rapids Press reported that the robbery and shooting occurred around 7 p.m.; the robber fled after shooting Pirkola.    

We asked Thom about a donation campaign being run by iFanboy.com, and he said that as far as he knew, it was a legitimate way for fans to send assistance to Pirkala and his family.  He also urged Apparitions’ customers to “support Dave by shopping at the store.”
