Denis Kitchen informed ICv2 that he has turned in the final manuscript and visual materials for The Art of Harvey Kurtzman, which Kitchen described as a “major coffee table-style biography and art book with loads of art that even hardcore Kurtzman fans have never seen.” 

The renowned art book publishing house Harry N. Abrams plans to release The Art of Harvey Kurtzman in the spring of 2009.  A spokesperson for Abrams told ICv2 that the Kurtzman book would be a worthy successor to the publisher’s recent Kirby: King of Comics by Mark Evanier.  It is another sign of the growing prestige of comics that titans of comic art and creativity like Kirby and Kurtzman are finally getting the sort of art book monographs that their careers merit.
