Game designer James Wallis’ Magnum Opus Press has announced that it has signed contracts with Mongoose Publishing to release new editions of its Dragon Warriors and The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen RPGs under the Mongoose’s Flaming Cobra imprint.  The deal will also extend to other properties that will be announced in the future.  Wallis best known from his stint at Hogshead Publishing (Warhammer FRP, Nobilis), which he headed from 1994 to 2003

Under the terms of the deal Magnum Opus will retain complete creative control over the game and will do all the design, writing, illustration and layout, while Mongoose will handle all printing, publicity, sales, and distribution.

The first Magnum Opus from Mongoose will be a new edition of the 1988 Origins Award-nominated The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen RPG, a game described by John Kovalic as “Utter brilliance in RPG Form.”  The new version, a facsimile of the suppressed 1808 printing, is roughly double the length of the 1998 version and contains 55% more insults about the French.

The next Magnum Opus release, which is due in October, will be a revised version of the cult classic 1980s Dragon Warriors RPG Rulebook by Dave Morris and Oliver Johnson with all new covers and artwork.  A Dragon Warriors Supplement will follow in November.
