Shojo series represented a clear majority of the ICv2 Top 50 Manga Properties in the spring of 2008, according to the new ICv2 Guide #57:  Anime/Manga, just released.  This is the first time since ICv2 has been assembling its list of Top Manga that titles directed at female readers have achieved this level.

And for the coming months of September and October, anime and game-related manga dominate the list of new launches, demonstrating the importance of recognizable products in the current hyper-competitive state of the manga market.

Anime sales this spring also hung to the tried and true, for the most part, with Dragon Ball Z the top property in our ICv2 Top 25 Anime Properties list.

Box sets are where the action is in anime releases, with straight-to-box-set TV series joining repackages on the box set shelf.

In live action, the release of Death Note DVD is the highlight of upcoming releases, with Love and Honor and Revenge of a Kabuki Actor also strong entrants.

The new ICv2 Guide also covers Pick Hits and other new manga, novel and art book, anime, and live action releases for September and October; the ICv2 Top 50 Manga Properties and the ICv2 Top 25 Anime Properties for the first months of 2008; the Anime on American TV report; and reviews.
