Mayfair Games has announced that a new version of its popular mob-themed card game, Family Business, will ship to stores later this year along with two new board games with an historical bent.

Family Business is a re-release of the classic 1989 card game, reprinted in 2006 (see “Family Business Release Set”), in which 2-6 players take on the role of a crime boss trying to bump off their opponents’ gang members before their own are rubbed out.  The light-hearted “beer-and-pretzels” game made the Games 100 list when it was first released in 1989. The new version releases September 25th and carries an MSRP of $15.

Two other board games highlight Mayfair’s fall release schedule. In The Dutch Golden Age (MSRP $45), three or four players assume the roles of Dutch traders in the early 17th century, amassing their fortunes through a variety of means.

Monuments – Wonders of Antiquity, aimed at a slightly younger crowd, challenges players to design the most awe-inspiring wonders of the world and immortalize their accomplishments for all time.

Both games are scheduled for an October 9th release.
