Boom! Studios and Disney Publishing Worldwide have announced a line of children’s comics featuring characters from Pixar movies.  The new line will launch in 2009 with a four-issue The Incredibles comic writted by Boom! Studios’ EIC Mark Waid (Fantastic Four) with covers by Darwyn Cooke (New Frontier).  In addition to The Incredibles, the first wave of titles planned by Boom! Studios also includes Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Cars, Finding Nemo, and Wall-E.

Boom! Studios is releasing a special preview book at Comic-Con featuring sneak previews of many of the initial wave of its Pixar titles.  Plans call for the Pixar comics to be published in four-comic arcs, which can be collected in to graphic novel collections.  With the power of a Disney/Pixar imprint and the popularity of the Pixar characters, the distribution possibilities for Boom! Studios’ Pixar comics extend far outside the direct market and beyond the bookstore market as well--all the way to the major mass market retail chains.
