A test screening of the upcoming Mutant Chronicles movie, starring Thomas Jane (Punisher), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), Devon Aoki (DOA: Dead or Alive), and John Malkovich, (see “Mutant Chronicles Movie Moves Ahead” and “Malkovich Joins Mutant Chronicles”) at San Diego Comic-Con received generally positive reviews despite its preliminary state.  But no release date has been set.  A spokesperson for Paradox Entertainment, which owns the rights to the Mutant Chronicles property, told ICv2 that the movie is a work in progress, which will likely get a slight recut and have some fx work tweaked.  Producer Ed Pressman is currently seeking U.S. distribution.

Sales on a substantial amount of merchandise could benefit from the film's release.  Fantasy Flight Games’ non-randomized miniatures game is finally being released (see “Mutant Chronicles CMG Format Change”), and a new version of the RPG is in the works from Swedish manufacturer COG Games.  A novelization of the movie by bestselling fantasy author Matt Forbeck will also be released to coincide with the movie.
