At Otakon Bandai Entertainment announced the acquisition of the .hack//G.U. Trilogy, a computer-animated feature film that is based on .hack//G.U., a series of three role-playing video games that take place after the conclusion of the .hack//Roots anime series and were created for the PlayStation 2 console.  The CGI-animated .hack//G.U. Trilogy was produced by Cyber Connect 2 and received a theatrical premiere in Tokyo in December 2007 before being released in Japan on DVD in March of 2008.

According to the Anime News Network, Bandai, which has handled DVD production and distribution for all the previous .hack// anime series in the U.S., has not yet announced when it will release the .hack//G.U. Trilogy on DVD here in the States.  The three .hack//G.U. video games came out in Japan in 2006 and 2007.  The third and final .hack//G.U. game Redemption debuted in North America in September of 2007.
