Days of Wonder recently announced two new expansions for its award-winning Memoir ’44 board game, intended for large-scale play with more than two players. Both expansions will be released in North America in September and Europe in October and will be available exclusively in North America through Diamond-Alliance (see “Interview with Eric Hautemont and Mark Kaufman”).

Operation Overlord contains two decks of updated command cards and two punchboards of figure tokens, representing armies from different nations. Also included are eight additional dice and a revamped set of rules. The expansion is meant to facilitate setup and play of the Overlord scenario presented in the Memoir ‘44 base set and allows the scenario to be played with a single copy of the base game. MSRP is expected to be $20 to $25.

The “Hedgerow Hell” Overlord BattleMap set is the first in a planned series of BattleMap expansions. It includes a large (57” x 27.5”) double-sided paper map, printed with the terrain and features to play two scenarios: Hedgerow Hell and The Cadets of Summer. It also includes scenario rules, terrain, unit summary cards, and six Dodge truck miniatures, and is intended for two to eight players. It requires two copies of the base game or one copy and the aforementioned Operation Overlord expansion. MSRP is expected to be between $18 and $22.

In the same press release, Days of Wonder also announced a Troll Map Epic Adventure expansion for its BattleLore fantasy battles game for worldwide release in October. It will now be produced by Fantasy Flight Games, which acquired the rights to BattleLore (see “FFG Acquires ‘Battlelore’”).
