Mayfair, daVinci Games Split

Co-released 'Bang!' in 2002

Published: 08/28/2008, Last Updated: 08/29/2008 02:19am

Italian game publisher daVinci Games and America’s Mayfair Games announced an end to their six-year co-publishing agreement today.  According to the announcement, the decision to split was reached “after a year's worth of evaluation and negotiation.”  DaVinci will produce and distribute its own English-language games for release in North America.

Probably the best-known collaboration between the two companies was the multiple-Origins-Award-winning card game Bang!, released in 2002 and followed by several supplements and a compilation set in 2007 (see “Bang! The Bullet”). Other daVinci titles released under the Mayfair umbrella include Lupus in Tabula, a reworking of the popular Werewolf party game, and board games Barbarossa, King Me!, and Leonardo da Vinci.
