American Widow, a graphic memoir by 9/11 widow Alissa Torres and artist Sungyoon Choi (from Villard, hardcover, $22), was featured in two of the three largest circulation newspapers in the U.S. this week.  The New York Times Book Review reviewed the book in last Sunday’s edition, calling it Torres’ “raw, occasionally maddening, bracing graphic memoir.”

And on Tuesday, USA Today featured the book on the front page of its Life section in a feature article that told not only the story of the book, but also of Torres’ path to creating it with Choi.

Torres' husband, Eddie Torres, started work at Cantor Fitzgerald on September 10, 2001, and was among the casualties of the 9/11 attacks.  Alissa Torres, eight months pregnant at the time of her husband's death, eventually connected with Choi, an illustrator and comic artist, and produced this very personal story of her experiences surrounding her husband's death and the aftermath.
