Kenneth Branagh (Sleuth, Frankenstein) is near signing to direct Marvel’s Thor, planned for a 2010 release according to Variety.  Branagh replaces Matthew Vaughn, who ended his work on the film earlier this year (see “Matthew Vaughan No Longer on Thor”). 

After the release of two films this year (Iron Man and Incredible Hulk), Marvel Studios is taking 2009 off, but plans two films in 2010.  Thor is slotted for June 4th (see “Iron Man Sequel in 2010”).
