Mythic Entertainment, creator of the Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning massively multiplayer online RPG, has announced that 750,000 players have registered for the game in just over two weeks.  Based on the tabletop war game from Games Workshop, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning features unique realm to realm combat.

There are now three-quarters of a million players fighting for the forces of Order and Destruction in this game that is available for the PC (MSRP $49.99) and is rated “T” for teen by the ESRB.  WAR, which started fast with half a million registrants in its first week (see “Warhammer Online Draws 500 K”), is continuing to add players and is already one of the bestselling PC games of the year.

Among MMORPGs WAR is now topped only by World of Warcraft (10 million plus players), RuneScape (1.3 million), and Lineage 1 & 2 (1 million each).  If WAR continues to grow it should inspire a considerable amount of licensed merchandise and reenergize the entire Warhammer property.
