Neil Gaiman will produce a live action film based on his YA novel The Graveyard Book for Framestore, a British special effects house just beginning to produce movies on its own, according to an interview with MTV.  Framestore was chosen over several Hollywood studios, some of whom wanted to make an animated feature based on the book.

The Graveyard Book (see “Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book”) has hit #1 on the New York Times bestseller list for chapter books in its first week of release.

Framestore has done effects for many high profile movies, including The Dark Knight’s Two-Face transformation, and is now starting to make its own films.  Because of the supernatural elements in the novel, special effects will play an important role in the film.
