TV, comic, and screen writer J. Michael Straczynski has been signed to write an update of the 1956 film Forbidden Planet, according to Hollywood Reporter.  Joel Silver is producing; the film is set up at Warner Bros. 

Most recently, Straczynski wrote Clint Eastwood’s Changeling, and Ninja Assassin (see “Ninja Scroll Movie Deal”).

Straczynski was just announced as a Guest of Honor at the 2009 New York Comic Con, in February.
