Famed director Ridley Scott will direct a film based on the iconic Monopoly board game, according to Hollywood Reporter.  And Pamela Pettler, who wrote Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, Monster House, and the upcoming 9, has been signed to do the screenplay.

According to the article, Scott is looking at giving the movie a Bladerunner-esque “futuristic sheen.” 

The movie is part of the broader deal between Hasbro and Universal Studios (see “Monopoly, Magic Movies on Tap”).
