Mayfair Games has announced the late January/early February release of Glenn’s Gallery (MSRP $35), a board game set in the world of fine art where a heavy layer of gentility often masks cutthroat competition.  Players in the game, which was designed by Reiner Knizia (4-time winner of the Deutscher Spiele Preis), are all employees of the prestigious art gallery owned by Glenn Willibin, whose only artistic credo is “This is my balance sheet.  It tells me what kind of art I like.”  Players have to watch trends in the art world and recommend to Glenn the types of art that will attract the most customers.

Customers are represented by cards, and at the beginning of each turn players receive a certain amount of information about the customers who will show up that month.  Players also have to watch out for art students, who drive away paying customers.  At the end of the month Glenn looks at the number of customers that have expressed an interest in each type of art and rewards (or penalizes) players based on their recommendations.

Glenn’s Gallery is designed for 3-5 players, ages 10 and up, and it typically takes 60-70 minutes to play.  The game includes six boards representing the five different galleries and the scoring track plus 65 art cards (13 examples each of five different types of art), 11 customer cards and 2 student cards.  Also included are 25 prediction pieces, 5 white doubling pieces, 25 small markers, and 6 wipe-off crayons.
