The Dark Knight is in the running for numerous awards in the run-up to Oscar season.  The Producers Guild of America announced its nominations this week, and The Dark Knight is one of five films up for the best picture award.  The PGA best picture winner has gone on to win the Oscar in 12 of the last 19 years. 

TDK also made the longlist (soon to be cut down to a shortlist) of nominees for the British Academy Film Awards, with nominations in 13 categories, tied with Oscar fave Slumdog Millionaire and several other films. 

And TDK is also in the running for the Oscar for make-up; it’s on the list of seven from which three nominees will be chosen. 

Warners is known to be keen on getting a posthumous Oscar for Heath Ledger, and hopes to get TDK nominated for best picture as well.
