Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be returning to American television on Fox in January.  It will be a new animated production based on the characters from the comics, TV shows, and movies of the 80s.  A new version of the comic series was recently launched, by TMNT co-creator Peter Laird and Jim Lawson.  Other merchandise will surely follow.

TMNT will be airing on the Saturday morning Fox block being programmed by 4Kids Entertainment (see '4Kids Gets Fox Kids Block'), which has been dubbed the Fox Box.  The rest of the 4Kids programming will start September 14, and in addition to the previously announced Ultraman and Kinnikuman (see 'Kinnikuman Anime, Live Action Ultraman on Fox in Fall'), the Fox Box will feature Stargate Infinity, an animated spin-off of the movie/TV property, Kirby (based on the Nintendo character), and Food Feud, in which foods transform into monsters.

Of all of these, TMNT certainly has the greatest potential to drive merchandise sales based on past US performance, but Ultraman has been a popular series in Japan for over 30 years, and has continuously driven toy sales during that period, so it may have potential as well.
