The Simpsons begins a year-long 20th anniversary celebration, tagged “Best. 20 Years. Ever.” this week.  It will culminate on January 14, 2010, the 20th anniversary of the series debut. 

The celebration kicks off with “Unleash your Yellow,” a fan poster contest that invites fans to create a Simpsons poster, with the winner to get a trip to the premiere party for the Simpsons’ 21st season.

The Simpsons matched Gunsmoke’s record this year as the longest running series on television (see “Simpsons Matches Gunsmoke Seasons”).  

Bongo publishes the Simpsons comics, and there are numerous other licensed products available (the talking beer can opener is still our favorite all time).
