Second Mag Wholesaler Imposes Charges

After Anderson News announced that it was imposing a charge of $.07 per magazine it distributes, warning of an “implosion” in the magazine business, Source Interlink, a second magazine wholesaler, announced similar charges this week, according to Folio Magazine. The two companies combined account for over 50% of the magazines distributed to newsstand-style accounts in the
Folio quoted John Harrington of the New Single Copy newsletter as estimating that if the charges catch on industry-wide, publishers would be paying over $250 million a year more in distribution costs.
