Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly and Serenity, will present the first act of the first episode of his new series Dollhouse at the New York Comic Con at 12:45pm (EST) on Sunday, February 8th at the IGN Theater.   Whedon will then conduct an autograph session starting at 2pm.  Dollhouse, which stars Eliza Dushku, is set to premiere on the Fox Network on Friday, February 13th (see “Dollhouse Premieres on February 13th”).  Whedon joins other Special Guests at the NYCC including Seth Green, J.J. Sedelmaier, Matt  Senreich, and Art Spiegelman.

Iconoclastic Japanese film director Takashi Miike (Ichi the Killer, Sukiyaki Western Django) will also attend the NYCC.  Miike, who is a Guest of Honor, will be joined by actor and pop star Sho Sakurai.  They will preview a 7-minute clip from their upcoming Yatterman film at 4pm on Friday, January 6th at the IGN theater.  Yatterman, which is a live action production from the Nikkatsu Studios and debuts in Japan in March, is based on the classic Tatsunoko Productions mecha/comedy anime series that aired in Japan in the late 1970s.  The film will have its world premiere at the New York Director’s Guild Theater at 8pm on Friday night (a limited number of tickets will be available at the Nikkatsu booth), and will be shown again at the IGN Theater at the Javits Center at 8:30 pm on Saturday night.

BBC America’s highest rated series, Torchwood, will also be feted at the NYCC.  Director Euros Lyn, who helmed the entire 3rd season of Torchwood along with the two final David Tennant Doctor Who episodes, and actress Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper) will preview the show’s third season at a panel that will be held at 4:15pm on Saturday, February 7th.
