During his Tuesday morning appearance on The Today Show Neil Gaiman announced that Neil (The Crying Game, Interview With a Vampire) Jordan is writing and directing the big screen adaptation of The Graveyard Book (see “Gaiman’s Graveyard Movie”).  Jordan, an Irish filmmaker who won an Academy Award for The Crying Game, is also a novelist.  Jordan is currently filming Ondine, a mermaid saga with Alicja Bachleda-Curus and Colin Farrell.

Though many of his films such as The Crying Game, Michael Collins and Breakfast on Pluto have been rooted in reality and in the tortured political history of Ireland, Jordan has also directed movies such as In the Company of Wolves and High Spirits, which like The Graveyard Book, have a decided fantasy bent.
