Frank Miller’s movie adaptation of Will Eisner’s The Spirit, which earned $34.5 million at the box office worldwide, is due out on DVD from Lionsgate on April 14th.  The Spirit DVD will be available in three versions, a Single-Disc Edition (MSRP $29.95), a 2-Disc Special Edition ($34.98) and on Blu-ray ($39.99).  The Spirit, which was produced using “green screen” technology, features a graphic look typical of the screen adaptations of Miller’s own comic book works like Sin City and 300.

The 2-Disc Special Edition and The Spirit Blu-ray contain lots of bonus material including “Green World,” a featurette on green screen moviemaking, “Miller on Miller,” a look at the work of Frank Miller, and an alternate storyboard ending featuring Miller’s storyboards and voiceovers by Samuel L. Jackson (the Octopus), and Gabriel Macht (Denny Colt, aka The Spirit).  The Blu-ray edition includes an additional extra feature, “History Repeats,” an in-depth look at the origin of The Spirit.

The Spirit Blu-ray also marks the debut of the Internet-enabled Lionsgate Live features that provide updateable exclusive comment such as commentaries, games, ringtones, wall papers, and more.  Both the 2-Disc Special Edition and The Spirit Blu-ray come with a digital copy of the film that can easily downloaded to iPods and computers.
