Del Rey has announced that Robin Furth will write and Tony Shasteeen will both pencil and ink the comic book/graphic novel adaptation of Stephen King and Peter Straub’s The Talisman.  Dabel Brothers Publishing will handle lettering and overall management of the project.  The first monthly comic of The Talisman will be released this fall.  The Talisman and its sequel The Black House are part of the Dark Tower mythos and The Talisman's episodic structuremakes it ideal for comic book adaptation.

The comics will be collected into graphic novels starting in 2010.  The Talisman project marks the first time that Del Rey, which has published hundreds of volumes of manga and graphic novels, has ventured into the realm of monthly comics (see “Del Rey Adapting Stephen King and Peter Straub’s The Talisman”).

Robin Furth, who worked as Stephen King’s research assistant from 2000-2004, is a co-writer on Marvel’s adaptations of King’s Dark Tower series, and she has also written comic book adaptations of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Lords of Avalon Arthurian fantasy novels.

Tony Shasteen has been working as an illustrator since 1995.  He has worked for Hasbro, DC Comics, Wildstorm, Top Cow, Dark Horse, and Image Comics for whom he drew the four-issue Occult Crimes Taskforce created by Rosario Dawson and David Atchison.
