BookExpo America will be permanently sited in New York City beginning this year, in a move that ends the rotation around the country that has been the show’s hallmark throughout its existence.  The show will also change its dates, moving from a weekend show to weekdays, beginning in 2010.

The move to stay in New York for future shows was made to permanently keep the show in the city where the North American book industry is headquartered, and to take advantage of the unparalleled media attendance at the New York shows.

The weekday dates, which replace the Friday through Sunday dates that will end with this year’s show, are to reflect the fact that the weekend dates no longer accommodate retailers’ schedules.  Friday has always been the biggest attendance day of the show as well, indicating that attendees prefer attending on weekdays.
