IESB is reporting that Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures are looking for a director to helm a live action Wonder Woman film.  The Wonder Woman film has remained dormant for over two years since Warners booted Joss Whedon off the project (see “Whedon Off Wonder Woman Film”).  According to IESB a few weeks ago Warners and Silver began taking pitches and looking for writers for a live action Wonder Woman film.

In spite of the tremendous success of The Dark Knight, Warner Brothers has been taking some flak in Hollywood for its failure to develop a slate of DC Comics-based films comparable to what Marvel Studios has managed to do with its Marvel-based movies.  Some of the criticism is unjustified since the Jonah Hex and Green Lantern movies are set for 2010 (see “Warners Comic Movie Dates”), but high profile fizzles such as the Whedon Wonder Woman project and George Miller’s ill-fated Justice League, as well as the failure to come up with a sequel to Superman Returns have all left the impression that Warner Brothers has not done justice to its available stable of prime DC Comics properties--a perception that the current regime at Warners appears to be trying to turn around in a hurry.
