Konami plans four new Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG releases this summer in addition to the previously announced Raging Battle booster expansion (see “Konami’s Spring ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’ Releases”).  The new offerings include a deluxe 5D’s Starter Deck, a Raging Battle booster pack package, a pack of classic cards from the early days of the game and anime, and a hobby-exclusive follow-up to last year’s successful Gold Series.

Gold Series 2009 is a hobby-exclusive product, like last year’s Gold Series 2008, which sold out before its release (see “CCG Sell-Outs”).  The 50-card set includes 18 Gold Rares and popular tournament-level cards, such as Dark Armed Dragon and Test Tiger.  Also included are Shonen Jump tournament prize cards Gold Sacrophagus and Des Volstgalph, as well as a gold foil version of Sangan.  Each box contains a 25-card pack that includes 22 common cards and three Gold Rares and retails for $19.99.  Display boxes include five such packs, with 10 display boxes per case.  The set releases May 27.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Trading Card Game Starter Deck comes with 43 non-random cards (three foil) from the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s anime, a beginner’s guide, and game mat.  Nine of the cards have never been released in North America, including the X-Saber cards, previously available only in Japan.  Each starter deck retails for $9.99, with 10 starters per display box and 12 display boxes per case.  Release date is June 9.

The Raging Battle Special Edition boxed set contains three Raging Battle booster packs and one of two Super Rare promo cards -- either Allure of Darkness or The Dark Creator.  Each box retails for $9.99 apiece, with 10 boxes per display box and 12 display boxes per case. Release date is June 23.

Nostalgic Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG fans can check out Duelist Pack -- Yugi, which revisits the classic cards of Yu-Gi-Oh!’s early run on television. Each pack includes five game cards, such as Dark Magician Girl and Mirror Force, as well as a strategy card.  There are a total of 30 cards in the set, which retails for $1.99 per pack, with 30 packs to a box and 10 boxes to a case.  Release date is July 7.
