#73 Out Before #72

Diamond Comic Distributors has announced that Marvel Comics is shuffling its Wolverine comic book releases for the month of May in hopes of picking up new readers for the series, which should get a boost in visibility from the release of Fox’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine on May 1st. Wolverine #73, which contains the first half of a two-part story by Jason Aaron and Daniel Way featuring the contemporary version of the adamantium-clawed hero, will be released on May 13th, a week before Wolverine #72, the next-to-last issue in Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s “Old Man Logan” 8-issue saga, debuts on May 20th.
Wolverine #74, which includes the second half of Aaron and Way’s story and features art by Adam Kubert and Tommy Lee Edwards, is due in stores on May 27th. The Aaron and Way two-parter presents a much better jumping-on point for new readers familiar with the movie version of Wolverine than Mark Millar’s “Old Man Logan” storyline, which is set more than 50 years in the future and features an aged and broken-down Wolverine who has been tricked by Mysterio into killing many of the X-Men and retired into obscurity.
Millar and McNiven’s “Old Man Logan” saga will conclude with a flourish in a Giant Size Old Man Logan. In June the Wolverine comic will change its name to Dark Wolverine with issue #75, which will chronicle of the exploits of Wolverine's son Daken.
