Settlers of Catan will appear on a new platform with the release of Catan:  The First Island for the Nintendo DS handheld game system in May.  The game will be playable solo, or with other DS players. 

This will be the first appearance of the Settlers property on a handheld game system since the ill-fated N-Gage for Nokia phones back in 2005 (see “Catan Joins Rifts”).  The widely accepted DS system will expose new players to the Catan game.
