Transformers’ Midnights TopsFor Wednesday OpensPublished: 06/25/2009 12:51am With $16 million in tickets sold and all Imax showings sold out, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen had the biggest Wednesday midnight box office take ever. The Transformers sequel had the third biggest midnight opening, behind The Dark Knight, which had an $18.5 million open on a Friday, and Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith, with a $17 million midnight opening on a Thursday.
The film is expected to break the five day Wednesday-opening weekend record of $152.4 million set by Spider-Man 2.
Revenge of the Fallen is getting generally poor notices, with only a 21% positive rating on RottenTomatoes.com, but that’s unlikely to affect the take. |
