Viz Speeding Up 'One Piece''

30 Volumes in Six Months

Published: 07/06/2009 01:02am

Taking a page from its Naruto playbook, Viz Media is going to do an accelerated release for the One Piece manga in order to get release dates in North America closer to the release dates in Japan, the company announced at Anime Expo.  Five volumes per month will be released between January and June 2010, with volumes 24 through 53 released in that six-month period.

Viz caught up the release dates on its flagship Naruto title in two accelerated release periods—one in late 2007 and the second in early 2009 (see “Free Naruto Anime in U.S. Days after Japan”).
