According to The Hollywood Reporter, Frank Miller “recently completed a draft of a graphic novel” follow-up to his Battle of Thermopylae epic 300.  Like 300, the new graphic novel will be published by Dark Horse Comics.  Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros., the producers of the movie adaptation of 300, are first in line to acquire the rights to Miller’s new Spartan-themed work.  Zack Snyder, who directed 300, has indicated that he is interested in directing the adaptation of Miller’s Spartan sequel, but he has not signed on yet.

THR reports that “word in the development community is that 300 co-writer Kurt Johnstad will be back for a return engagement, though Warners indicates that he has not been hired at this time."  The Reporter is not at all sure whether the new project, which is still shrouded in secrecy, is a sequel or a prequel to 300, which was produced for $65 million and earned over $456 million at the worldwide box office.  Although it is a long way from the screen, given the kind of profits that 300 earned, Miller’s new graphic novel is going to get a long look from sequel-happy Tinseltown.
