The standing ovation that Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass received at Comic-Con may help the writer/director get a distribution deal for his independently-produced adaptation of Mark Millar’s creator-owned comic.  The studios initially passed on the ultra-violent film about teenage wannabee superheroes with a script that “broke every taboo known to man,” but the reaction that clips from the film received at Comic-Con have Hollywood insiders predicting that Kick-Ass will be able to score a distribution deal.

According to Variety, Vaughn will screen a rough cut of the film for studios and distributors at the Directors Guild of America on Tuesday.  Don’t be surprised if a distribution deal and a release date in early 2010 are announced in the near future.
