Years of the Elephant, an autobiographical graphic novel by Belgian artist Willy Linthout, will be released later this month by Fanfare/Ponent Mon. The story is drawn from Linthout’s experiences surrounding the suicide of his son in 2004.
Linthout’s long career as a cartoonist includes 130 volumes of the humor title Urbanis, which have sold millions of copies. Years of the Elephant, a very serious work drawn in pencils without inks, is a major departure from Urbanis in both content and style.
