In an interview with Blair Brown on G4 Brian Michael Bendis discussed the status of his creator-owned properties such as Powers, which is being developed as a TV series by FX, and let the cat out of the bag by revealing something of the nature of the next big Marvel event, Siege, a four-issue series that debuts in January and marks the end of Norman Osborn’s Dark Reign over the Marvel Universe.

Bendis told G4 that Kevin Falls, who produced Sports Night and The West Wing, will function in the key position of showrunner for the Powers TV series, which is being developed for the FX cable network.  The all-important (in terms of getting the series greenlit) pilot episode of Powers is being directed by Michael Dinner who helmed the successful Sons of Anarchy and Bionic Woman pilots.  Meanwhile the Powers comic book series is re-launching as a monthly book from Marvel Icon starting on November 27th.  Bendis told G4 that there are enough issues already in the can to keep the new Powers series on schedule.

Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor have been at loggerheads for the past couple of years, but Bendis revealed to G4 that these original Avengers will reassemble in Siege, a 4-issue mini-series that begins in January.  The Siege mini-series will be preceded by a prologue issue, The Siege: Cabal, which is due out in December.  Michael Lark will pencil Siege: Cabal, while Olivier Coipel will draw the Siege mini-series.  While retailers will have to wait until the Marvel presentation at the Diamond Retailer Summit to find out the exact nature of Siege, Bendis indicated that it would mark the end of Norman Osborn’s dominance of the Marvel Universe.
