Rick Marschall and Jonathan Barli have announced the formation of Rosebud Archives, a new publisher planning books, prints, portfolios, posters, and greeting cards using images largely drawn from Marschall’s capacious collection of vintage comics and graphic arts.

Initial releases include The Kraziest Kats 1935-1939, a portfolio of twenty-five Sunday pages of George Herriman’s Krazy Kat comics; three collections of short stories by Gluyas Williams; prints and stationary featuring the art of John T. McCutcheon, Harrison Cady, Windsor McCay, Milt Gross; a portfolio with art by Charles Dana Gibson; and a color portfolio of  unseen photos of Marlene Dietrich.

Rosebud is promising “museum quality reproduction” and is promoting its portfolio design, which includes “padded” sheets; and archival-grade paper for its prints, among other high quality touches.
