Hasbro filed suit this week against Atari, alleging fraud and breach of contract.  Hasbro charges that Atari “may have entered” into a banned sublicensing relationship with Namco Bandai on Wizards of the Coast’s Dungeons and Dragons brand.  It noted that Namco Bandai is a competitor of both Hasbro and its subsidiary Wizards of the Coast.

Atari countered in a statement, calling Hasbro’s charges “meritless allegations” that were promulgated “in an apparent attempt to unfairly take back rights granted to Atari.”

Both statements spoke of efforts to resolve the issue prior to litigation.
