Square Enix has reported selling one million copies of the new eagerly-awaited Final Fantasy XIII in just its first day of release in Japan.  The hugely popular RPG video game was available by itself on a Blu-ray disc and bundled with a special “Lightning” 250GB edition of the Sony PS3 game.

Sales total for the first week of release in Japan, where Final Fantasy is enormously popular, amounted to 1,516,532 units, of which about 250K were bundled with the new PS3 hardware.  So far Square Enix has sold Final Fantasy XIII games for one out of every three PS3 units in Japan.
