Nickelodeon announced its new shows for the 2010-11 season on Thursday, with several shows of interest planned for one of its digital nets, Nicktoons.  Continuing the trend of A-quality anime on B-quality channels, Dragon Ball Z Kai, the new version of one of the most popular anime in history, will premiere on Nicktoons in May.  Home video from Funimation is planned for later this year (see “Funimation Nabs Dragon Ball Z Kai”).

A new Voltron toon, Voltron Panthera Force, will premiere on Nicktoons this season.  Kick Start Production will produce with World Events Production.  Todd Garfield is attached to write the 26-episode series.  Kick Start is the producer of the Painkiller Jane live action series and the Wolverine and the X-Men animated series. Kick Start does not do its own animation; instead it will contract animation from a studio partner in Asia, India, or Canada.

And last, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will also turn up on Nicktoons this year.  It appears that this is the old series, acquired from 4Kids and Mirage earlier this year (see “Nick Buys TMNT”).  The new CGI series has been announced as starting in 2012.
