Oni Press has announced that the sixth and final volume of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s
Scott Pilgrim series of graphic novels will be released on July20th just a little more than three weeks before the big screen debut of Edgar Wright’s
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World film adaptation starring Michael Cera.
Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour, the 248-page final volume in the series, will end O’Malley’s manga-influenced saga with final barrage of “evil-ex” butt-kicking that will be available for the modest cover price of just $11.99.
If Wright’s
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World movie lives up to the descriptions of those who have attended preview screenings and pronounced it an all-out “nerdgasm,” with six
Scott Pilgrim volumes available, it just might provide the major movie-driven graphic novel sales opportunity of the year. And 2010 is a year that has plenty of them, including the release of the first
Twilight and
Percy Jackson-based graphic novels, and movies based on other comic properties such as
Kick Ass, Diary of Wimpy Kid, The Losers,
Iron Man Jonah Hex, and
Red.
