The long-gestating Red Sonja film project may be undergoing some major changes. When Rose McGowan, who was originally offered the title role in the Red Sonja movie, accepted the part of a half-human, half-witch in the new Conan film (see “Rose McGowan Joins Conan Cast”), it appeared increasingly unlikely that she would return as Red Sonja, in spite of some reports that the Red Sonja movie, though delayed, was still on track.
Now pajiba.com is reporting that both McGowan and director Douglas Aarniokioski are off the Red Sonja project and Nu Image/Millennium Films is searching for a new writer to tweak David White’s script. But the even bigger news is that the studio has offered the role to Transformers star Megan Fox, who, according to the report, is more age-appropriate for an origin story about “an innocent teenager” who becomes a fearsome warrior.
