Steve Jackson Games has announced that the 19th printing of the Munchkin card game, which starts shipping to retail on May 24th, will have all the John Kovalic illustrations in full color.  Reprints of the fantasy supplements for Munchkin that are scheduled throughout the rest of 2010 will also include full color art starting with Munchkin 2: Unnatural Axe and Munchkin 3: Clerical Errors in June.

New printings of all core Munchkin games, including Munchkin Cthulhu and Munchkin Booty will come with a custom six-sided Munchkin die.  The rulesheets for the core sets have also been expanded to two pages to allow for larger type and more Kovalic illustrations, and a small number of cards from sets throughout the line have been revised.

Steve Jackson Games plans to support all Munchkin players no matter which version of the game they own.  Launched in 2001, the basic Munchkin game has sold over 400,000 copies, so there are plenty of gamers who own the original version of the game.  All the revised rulesheets will be posted online.  Next fall SJG will publish Go Up a Level, a supplement with replacement cards and transitional rules designed to make it easy for current players to keep on using the sets they own and still play the latest revised version of the game.

To accommodate higher color printing and shipping costs, the MSRP of a Munchkin Boosters will rise from $3.99 to $4.99, while the cost of a 56-card expansion will go from $9.95 to $10.99, the price of a 112-card expansion escalates from $17.95 to $19.95, and the list price for a complete 168-card set will go from $24.95 to $24.99.
